Prattville, AL — July 25, 2025 — On a sunny Friday in July, more than 175 early childhood professionals, caregivers, and community leaders gathered at the Montgomery Marriott Prattville Hotel and Conference Center for the 3rd Annual Let’s TALK About It Summit, hosted by Feed Me Words. This year’s theme, “Fostering Literacy and Wellness for a Brighter Future,” highlighted the deep connection between child wellbeing and the development of early language and literacy skills.
Throughout the day, participants explored how strong, supportive relationships and emotionally safe environments lay the groundwork for children to talk, learn, and thrive. The summit emphasized that wellbeing and language development go hand in hand, and that adults, when well themselves, are uniquely positioned to help children grow both emotionally and cognitively.
The event opened with a powerful keynote from Dr. Dipesh Navsaria, a pediatrician, professor, and nationally recognized child health advocate. In his keynote, “Books Build Better Brains,” Dr. Navsaria explained how human connection, early adversity, and everyday interactions impact brain development in the first thousand days of life.
Attendees then participated in two rounds of breakout sessions, choosing from over a dozen engaging topics. Sessions such as “Nurturing Resilience,” “What Do You Do with the Mad that You Feel?” and “The Power of Being Uncomfortable” gave participants hands-on strategies for supporting young children’s emotional regulation, communication, and cognitive growth.
One interactive favorite was The Brain Architecture Game, which allowed participants to see firsthand how experiences shape the developing brain, thus reinforcing the summit’s central message that wellbeing is the foundation on which language and literacy are built.
“The Let’s TALK About it Summit is such an awesome event,” said one attendee. “I always get some great nuggets from each session that I can use with the teachers I coach, and the free massages are the icing on the cake. This summit has become one of the highlights of my summer.”
The summit closed with an inspiring address from Dr. Jeff Langham, who honored the essential, often invisible work of early childhood professionals. His closing session, “Planting Seeds, Building Futures,” left attendees feeling seen, valued, and reenergized.
Now in its third year, the Let’s TALK About It Summit continues to grow in reach and impact by offering a space for professionals to connect, reflect, and recommit to building strong language and literacy foundations through everyday moments of care. We look forward to next year’s Summit and the wealth of knowledge, inspiration, and deep connection it will bring to the early childhood community.
